Reshaping Nobility: Formation of the new Christian elite in Ottoman Serbia (15th-18th century)

The Church of the First Serbian Emperor and the Residence of the Last Serbian Despot at the Dvorine Archaeological Site near Arandjelovac

The archaeological research carried out in Dvorine, in the foothills of Mt. Venčac, confirmed the exceptional importance of this site. In the cemetery, located around the remains of the large church, several marble tombstones were discovered. One of them bears an inscription stating that Bratisav (V) Bolić, a man in the service of Prince Lazar, was buried under it. Samples of human skeletal remains were taken for DNA analysis, which is being carried out as part of the NOBILITY project, financed by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia.
